Presence

Our practice of prayer is an exercise in presence; being present ourselves, that we can become more aware of God’s abiding presence.

It seems as though being fully, attentively present would be our default behavior. And yet, many of us sense that Presence, in our time, takes extraordinary intentionality and attention. The learned behaviors of self-distraction and escapism create a resistance to simple presence. It’s worth asking: what would it look like to rewrite our default behaviors from distracted escapism? to naturally and fully be present in each moment of our days.

A practice of prayer is a bridge to that life.
