The Resistance

While there is something within us that yearns for connection with God in prayer, there is another side that resists.

While we develop the part of our heart that desires God, it may be worth naming the resistance. In this experiment, take a few days, and take a moment after you pray to acknowledge whatever resistance you seek to prayer. Consider noting your reflections in the journal, and review them as you gain a fuller perspective on the resistance.

Keep in mind that this experiment is not necessarily about challenging that resistance, or quashing it. Rather, here we are seeking awareness, gaining a fuller perspective.

You can also ask further questions about that resistance, such as the following:

What causes that resistance? How strong does it seem, and when does it seem more or less powerful?
